"Mangosteen calories", "rambutan calories", "soursop calories" and "jungle jalebi calories" are searched in India, and our custard apple, avocado, cherries, bael and peach guide says these fruits are IFCT 2017 rows it does not cover. This guide covers them: five rows from the Indian Food Composition Tables (IFCT 2017, ICMR-NIN) Table 1, all raw and per 100 g, with the Hindi and other Indian names IFCT prints: mangosteen (Mangustan), rambutan, soursop (Shul-ram fal, Lakshmanaphala), Manila tamarind (Ganga imli, Jangal jalebi, Vilayatichinch) and totapuri mango (Aam). Other mangoes, chikoo, litchi and jackfruit are in our mango varieties guide, figs, avocado and plantain in our fig, avocado and plantain guide and apple, guava, papaya and orange in our common fruits guide.

The short answer

By IFCT 2017, raw mangosteen is 219 kJ per 100 g, which is 52 kcal; rambutan 306 kJ, 73 kcal; soursop 260 kJ, 62 kcal; totapuri mango 248 kJ, 59 kcal; and Manila tamarind (jungle jalebi) 342 kJ, 82 kcal. IFCT prints energy in kJ only, so the kcal are our conversion (kJ divided by 4.184, rounded to a whole kcal). IFCT prints no weight per fruit, so we give no per-fruit or per-piece figure. Our reading: Manila tamarind has the highest energy, protein and fat of the five, rambutan the highest carbohydrate (16.84 g) without being the highest in energy, soursop the most fibre (4.95 g) and mangosteen the lowest energy and carbohydrate.

IFCT 2017: per 100 g, raw

Figures are as the IFCT 2017 PDF prints them (Table 1, PDF pages 51 to 52), per 100 g of edible portion: moisture, protein and total fat in g, total dietary fibre and available carbohydrate in g, and energy in kJ. All five rows come from a single region. The kcal is our conversion. The local names are those IFCT prints in its appendix of food names (PDF pages 511 and 514). IFCT 2017 says all its data except poultry and egg is for raw food (PDF p. 27), so these are raw weights. IFCT prints no portion weights, so there is no printed-portion table on this page.

100 g, 250 g and 500 g of these fruits, raw

Fruit is sold by 250 g and 500 g, which IFCT does not print. These three weights are ours: each cell is the IFCT kJ figure times the grams, divided by 100 and by 4.184, as kcal, with protein and fat as the IFCT per 100 g figure times the grams divided by 100, shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. They are raw edible portion; a whole fruit with its peel, shell, rind or seed weighs more than the edible portion, and we do not say by how much. None is a juice, a tea, a smoothie or a dessert.

Where NYUS fits (our app)

We make NYUS, so read this as ours. NYUS is an AI fitness and nutrition coach in early access on Android, with no ads and no data selling. You log foods yourself by searching 8,900+ Indian and global foods or by barcode, and a weekly check-in adjusts your calories, macros and step goal once enough is logged. Barcode coverage of Indian packaged foods is not complete, so search by name when a scan finds nothing.

What this page leaves out

Sources

The kcal conversion (kJ / 4.184, whole kcal), the 100 g, 250 g and 500 g table, the sums, the rounding, the comparisons and every sentence starting "Our reading" are NYUS's own arithmetic or opinion, not from IFCT. The moisture, protein, fat, fibre, carbohydrate and kJ values and the local names are exactly as printed in the IFCT 2017 PDF. The names in the first column are IFCT's own row names.
