Calories in a Pizza Slice, Burger and French Fries
A slice of pizza on a Friday, a burger with fries after a match, a few chicken strips: fast food is ordered by the slice, the sandwich and the serving, but calorie lists give it per 100 g. This guide gives the calories per 100 g for five USDA FoodData Central fast-food records, then turns them into one slice, sandwich, strip or serving using the weights USDA itself prints on each record, so none of the serving weights is our guess. The figures are for US reference products, not for a particular Indian outlet, a veg burger or a loaded pizza.
The short answer
By the USDA records below, one slice of chain cheese pizza (107 g) is about 285 kcal, a plain single burger (78 g) about 232 kcal and the same burger with condiments (97 g) about 255 kcal. French fries are about 222 kcal for USDA's small serving (71 g), 365 for medium (117 g) and 480 for large (154 g). A chicken tender strip (30 g) is about 81 kcal and USDA's 184 g serving about 499 kcal. Our reading: per 100 g the five rows sit between 263 and 312 kcal, so the serving you are handed matters most: a medium fries is more than a plain burger, and a plain burger with a medium fries is about 597 kcal by our arithmetic.
Calories per 100 g and per serving
Indian lab values (IFCT 2017) do not cover these foods: Table 1 lists raw foods such as potato and flours and has no pizza, burger, french fries, fried chicken or other restaurant dish that we found. Every row here is a USDA FoodData Central SR Legacy reference value, and the kcal per 100 g is the Energy figure printed on each record. Every serving weight is the household portion USDA prints on that record page: a pizza slice of 107 g (USDA lists the whole 14 inch pizza as 853 g, which is 7.97 slices), a plain burger sandwich of 78 g, a burger with condiments of 97 g, small, medium and large fries of 71 g, 117 g and 154 g, and a chicken strip of 30 g or a serving of 184 g. We add no weights of our own: an Indian outlet's slice, burger or portion of fries can be bigger or smaller, so weigh yours or read the pack. Each figure is the grams times the kcal per 100 g in the table, divided by 100, rounded to the nearest kcal. The rows are generic US reference foods, not a particular brand or restaurant, and a veg burger, paneer pizza, loaded fries or a sauce is not one of these rows.

What stands out in the numbers
- Per 100 g the rows run from 263 to 312 kcal: french fries 312, plain burger 297, chicken tenders 271, chain cheese pizza 266 and burger with condiments 263.
- The condiment burger is lower per 100 g but higher per sandwich. USDA lists 97 g for it against 78 g for the plain burger, so it is about 255 kcal against about 232 kcal, even though its per 100 g figure is lower (263 against 297).
- Fries are decided by size. USDA's small, medium and large servings are about 222, 365 and 480 kcal; the large is more than twice the small.
- A whole pizza is a lot of slices. USDA's 14 inch pizza is 853 g, about 2269 kcal, which is 7.97 slices of 107 g; two slices are about 569 kcal.
- Other foods in our guides. The bun and pizza base are bread: see our bread, naan, roti and paratha guide; the cheese on a slice is in our cheese guide, and ketchup and mayonnaise are in our spreads and sauces guide.
How to log it so the numbers hold
- Count the slices and weigh the rest. Pizza is easiest by the slice; for fries and strips, weigh the portion or compare it with USDA's small, medium and large weights.
- Sauces, dips and toppings are extra. Mayonnaise, cheese dip, ketchup, extra cheese and the cold drink are not in these rows; log them on top.
- Outlets differ. A thin crust, a veg or paneer topping, a paratha burger or a masala fries is not one of these rows; read the nutrition table if the outlet publishes one, or use the closest row.
- Ordering apps. Our Swiggy and Zomato ordering guide lists swaps; it gives no per-item calories, which is what this page adds.

We make NYUS, so read this as ours. NYUS is an AI fitness and nutrition coach in early access on Android, with no ads and no data selling. You log foods yourself by searching 8,900+ Indian and global foods or by barcode, and a weekly check-in adjusts your calories, macros and step goal once enough is logged. Barcode coverage of Indian packaged foods is not complete, so search by name when a scan finds nothing.
What this page leaves out
- A calorie target: we have not looked up one for any person, so we give none.
- Protein, fat, sodium and other nutrients: this page gives energy only.
- Veg and paneer burgers, loaded or thin-crust pizzas, nuggets and popcorn chicken, wraps, rolls, momos and any particular outlet's menu: not covered here.
- Brand pack labels and FSSAI figures: not used, so the page does not mix label numbers with the records above.
- Anything about weight, health or what these foods do to your body: the page adds up food data and makes no claim about it. If you have a medical condition, ask your doctor or dietitian.

How many calories are in a slice of pizza?
The USDA FoodData Central SR Legacy record 173292 (Fast Food, Pizza Chain, 14" pizza, cheese topping, regular crust) prints 266 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 slice as 107 g, so a slice is about 285 kcal by our arithmetic and two slices about 569 kcal. USDA lists the whole 14 inch pizza as 853 g, about 2269 kcal, which is 7.97 slices of 107 g. This is a US chain cheese pizza, not an Indian outlet or a loaded pizza.
How many calories are in a burger?
USDA SR Legacy 170693 (Fast foods, hamburger; single, regular patty; plain) prints 297 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 sandwich as 78 g, about 232 kcal by our arithmetic. USDA 170694 (the same burger with condiments) prints 263 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 sandwich as 97 g, about 255 kcal. The condiment burger is lower per 100 g and higher per sandwich because it weighs more. A veg burger, a large burger or a cheese burger is another row.
How many calories are in french fries?
USDA SR Legacy 170698 (Fast foods, potato, french fried in vegetable oil) prints 312 kcal per 100 g and lists a small serving as 71 g, a medium as 117 g and a large as 154 g: about 222, 365 and 480 kcal by our arithmetic. Masala fries, cheese fries and sauces are extra.
How many calories are in chicken nuggets or strips?
This page uses USDA SR Legacy 173321 (Fast foods, chicken tenders), the nearest row to strips and nuggets; it is not a nugget record. It prints 271 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 strip as 30 g, about 81 kcal, and 1 serving as 184 g, about 499 kcal. Nuggets, popcorn chicken and fried chicken pieces are not this row, so weigh yours or read the pack.
Does IFCT 2017 have pizza, burgers, fries or other restaurant food?
Not in Table 1 that we found. IFCT 2017 Table 1 lists raw foods such as potato and flours, and no pizza, burger, french fries, fried chicken or other restaurant dish, so every row on this page is a USDA FoodData Central SR Legacy record and the table says so. These are US fast-food reference rows and an Indian outlet's recipe, size and oil can differ.
