A tilapia fillet, a catfish fillet, half a salmon fillet and a serving of prawns each have a fillet, piece or serving weight printed on their SR Legacy record page. This guide gives thirty-three cooked fish and shrimp records from the SR Legacy table of USDA FoodData Central: fish cooked with dry heat (tilapia, farmed and wild catfish, carp, mahimahi, milkfish, pompano, striped mullet, shad, swordfish, snapper, grouper, eel, Atlantic mackerel, king and Spanish mackerel, Pacific and jack mackerel, tuna, four salmon, herring), two breaded and fried fish records and five shrimp records, with the weights printed on their record pages. IFCT 2017, the Indian Food Composition Tables from ICMR-NIN, has raw fish rows but no cooked fish row, so this page uses SR Legacy for cooked fish. Fresh Indian fish are in our fish protein guide, prawns, crab and squid in our shellfish guide, fish pieces in our calories per piece guide and tinned fish in our canned fish guide.

The short answer

By the SR Legacy records, 1 cooked tilapia fillet (87 g) is 111.4 kcal, 1 cooked farmed catfish fillet (143 g) 205.9 kcal and half a cooked farmed Atlantic salmon fillet (178 g) 366.7 kcal. Our reading: a fillet is not one weight: the printed fillet weights run from 87 g to 202 g, so compare the grams and the fat per 100 g, not the word fillet.

SR Legacy: per printed portion

Each figure is our arithmetic on exact weights: kcal per 100 g times the grams, divided by 100, with the exact product in the sums line and the result shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. Every weight below is printed on the SR Legacy record page; none is ours. The records also print 3 oz, 1 oz, cubic-inch and bone-yield weights, which are not shown. Records 171995, 173707, 172006, 175180 print no household portion that we show and appear per 100 g only. A cooked weight is meant.

Where NYUS fits (our app)

We make NYUS, so read this as ours. NYUS is an AI fitness and nutrition coach in early access on Android, with no ads and no data selling. You log foods yourself by searching 8,900+ Indian and global foods or by barcode, and a weekly check-in adjusts your calories, macros and step goal once enough is logged. Barcode coverage of Indian packaged foods is not complete, so search by name when a scan finds nothing.

Are surmai, bombil, pomfret, rohu or a fish fry in these records?

No. A search of the SR Legacy table on 28 Oct 2026 for surmai, bombil, bangda, pomfret, rohu, hilsa, prawn, fish fry, fish curry and tandoori fish returned no record by those names, so this page gives no calorie figure for them, and we do not say that tilapia, catfish, mackerel or any other record here matches an Indian fish of the same use. Fresh Indian fish are in our IFCT 2017 fish guides. The records here are cooked, dry heat, moist heat or breaded and fried fish and shrimp as USDA names them; oil, masala and gravy are not in the dry heat rows. For a dish, the cook or the label wins.
