A cup of raspberries, a cup of blackberries and a cup of cranberries each have a cup weight printed on their SR Legacy record page. This guide gives twenty-six such records from the SR Legacy table of USDA FoodData Central: seven raspberry records (raw, frozen sweetened and unsweetened, canned in heavy syrup, two purees and a juice concentrate), four blackberry records (raw, frozen, canned and canned juice), five cranberry records (raw, dried sweetened, canned sauce, unsweetened juice and a juice blend), three gooseberry and ground cherry records, elderberries, black, red and white currants, dried zante currants, boysenberries and loganberries, with the weights printed on their record pages. Strawberries and blueberries are in our strawberries, blueberries and grapefruit guide, glass-sized juices in our juice guide and IFCT figures for common fruits in our common fruits guide. IFCT 2017, the Indian Food Composition Tables from ICMR-NIN, has its own rows for amla (gooseberry), black berry and black currants, named below and not repeated here.

The short answer

By the SR Legacy records, 1 cup of raw raspberries (123 g) is 64.0 kcal, 1 cup of thawed sweetened frozen raspberries (250 g) 257.5 kcal, 1 cup of raw blackberries (144 g) 61.9 kcal, 1 cup of whole raw cranberries (100 g) 46.0 kcal, one quarter cup of dried sweetened cranberries (40 g) 123.2 kcal, 1 cup of canned cranberry sauce (277 g) 440.4 kcal and 1 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice (253 g) 116.4 kcal. Our reading: raw berries sit at 43 to 73 kcal per 100 g (73 is the raw elderberry row), while the dried sweetened cranberry and sauce rows print 308 and 159, so a spoon of dried cranberries is not the same as a spoon of fresh; compare the form and the grams, not the word berry.

SR Legacy: per printed portion

Each figure is our arithmetic on exact weights: kcal per 100 g times the grams, divided by 100, with the exact product in the sums line and the result shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. Every weight below is printed on the SR Legacy record page; none is ours. Package labels that carry an ounce size inside the label and the fluid ounce juice labels are shown as printed. The two purees (167808, 167809) and the juice concentrate (168217) print no portion other than 100 g and have no row below.

Where NYUS fits (our app)

We make NYUS, so read this as ours. NYUS is an AI fitness and nutrition coach in early access on Android, with no ads and no data selling. You log foods yourself by searching 8,900+ Indian and global foods or by barcode, and a weekly check-in adjusts your calories, macros and step goal once enough is logged. Barcode coverage of Indian packaged foods is not complete, so search by name when a scan finds nothing.

Which of these berries have IFCT 2017 rows?

IFCT 2017, the Indian Food Composition Tables from ICMR-NIN, has its own rows for gooseberry (Emblica officinalis, E021, the amla), black berry (E013), black currants (E015) and karonda (E032). They are named here and not used, and the amla figures are already on our other guides. A search of the IFCT 2017 PDF text found no raspberry, cranberry, blackberry-juice, elderberry or boysenberry row. The USDA gooseberry records are the dataset's own and we do not say that they are the Indian gooseberry (amla); a USDA ground cherry, also called cape gooseberry or poha, is a different fruit again.
