"Ground turkey calories" depends on the lean percent (85% lean, 93% lean or fat free), on raw against cooked and on how it was cooked. This guide gives eleven records from the SR Legacy table of USDA FoodData Central: raw ground turkey at 85% lean, 93% lean and fat free, a raw and a cooked record with no lean percent given, and cooked broiled patties and pan-broiled crumbles at 85% lean, 93% lean and fat free, with the weights printed on their record pages. IFCT 2017, the Indian Food Composition Tables from ICMR-NIN, has poultry rows including turkey on our beef, pork and duck guide, not repeated here. Minced beef is in our ground beef guide, turkey bacon and salami in our frankfurter, salami and ham guide, tacos in our taco, burrito and nachos guide, pasta dishes in our lasagna, spaghetti and macaroni guide and buns in our burger bun and roll guide.

The short answer

By the SR Legacy records, raw ground turkey is 112 to 180 kcal per 100 g across the four raw records (fat free 112, no lean percent given 148, 93% lean 150, 85% lean 180) and cooked ground turkey is 138 to 258 across the seven cooked records (fat free patties broiled 138, 93% lean patties broiled 207, 85% lean patties broiled 249, 85% lean pan-broiled crumbles 258). A pound (453.6 g, our weight) of raw 93% lean is 680.4 kcal and of raw 85% lean 816.5 kcal. Our reading: in every raw and cooked pair on this page the cooked record has more kcal, more protein and less water per 100 g, and within each cooking method the kcal rise from fat free to 93% lean to 85% lean; compare lean percent and raw against cooked, not the word turkey.

SR Legacy: per printed portion

Each figure is our arithmetic on exact weights: kcal per 100 g times the grams, divided by 100, with the exact product in the sums line and the result shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. Every weight below is printed on the SR Legacy record page; none is ours. Pure ounce portions are not shown, so the records that print only an ounce portion have no row here and the weights tables below cover all eleven. No record prints a cup weight.

100 g, 250 g and 500 g of ground turkey

Shops and recipes use 250 g and 500 g, which these records do not print. These three weights are ours: each cell is the SR Legacy per 100 g figure times the grams, divided by 100, as kcal, protein and fat, shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. They are for the meat as the record describes it (raw or cooked as named), not for a keema, a curry or a fry with oil.

One pound of raw ground turkey

All four raw records print a 1 lb portion (453 g, or 453.6 g on one of them). The weight used here is ours (1 lb = 453.6 g), applied to the raw per 100 g figures: kcal, protein and fat, shown to 0.1 with half rounding up. Raw meat loses water when cooked, so a pound of raw meat does not become a pound of cooked patties.

Frequently asked questions

How many calories are in 100 g of ground turkey?

SR Legacy 174493 (Turkey, ground, 85% lean, 15% fat, raw) prints 180 kcal, 16.9 g protein and 12.5 g fat per 100 g. SR Legacy 172850 (Turkey, ground, 93% lean, 7% fat, raw) prints 150 kcal, 18.7 g protein and 8.34 g fat per 100 g. SR Legacy 171505 (Turkey, Ground, raw) prints 148 kcal, 19.7 g protein and 7.66 g fat per 100 g. These are the raw records: 85% lean, 93% lean, fat free and ground turkey with no lean percent given.

How many calories are in a pound of raw ground turkey?

By the SR Legacy raw records, one pound (453.6 g, our weight; some records print "1 lb" as 453 g) is Turkey, ground, fat free, raw (SR Legacy 172847) 508.0 kcal; Turkey, Ground, raw (SR Legacy 171505) 671.3 kcal; Turkey, ground, 93% lean, 7% fat, raw (SR Legacy 172850) 680.4 kcal; Turkey, ground, 85% lean, 15% fat, raw (SR Legacy 174493) 816.5 kcal. The full raw per pound table is on this page. Cooked patties weigh less than the raw meat they came from, so a pound of raw meat does not make a pound of cooked patties.

How many calories are in a ground turkey patty?

SR Legacy 172849 (Turkey, ground, fat free, patties, broiled) prints 138 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 patty as 85 g, 117.3 kcal. SR Legacy 171506 (Turkey, Ground, cooked) prints 203 kcal per 100 g and lists 1 patty (4 oz, raw) (yield after cooking) as 82 g, 166.5 kcal. The first is a fat free patty broiled; the second is a cooked patty from 4 oz raw with no lean percent given. The 85% and 93% lean patty records print only an ounce portion, which this page does not show.

How many calories are in 93% lean, 85% lean and fat free ground turkey?

SR Legacy 172849 (Turkey, ground, fat free, patties, broiled) prints 138 kcal, 29 g protein and 2.48 g fat per 100 g. SR Legacy 174492 (Turkey, ground, 93% lean, 7% fat, patties, broiled) prints 207 kcal, 25.9 g protein and 11.4 g fat per 100 g. SR Legacy 174495 (Turkey, ground, 85% lean, 15% fat, patties, broiled) prints 249 kcal, 25.9 g protein and 16.2 g fat per 100 g. In every raw and cooked set on this page (raw, broiled patties, pan-broiled crumbles) the kcal per 100 g rise from fat free to 93% lean to 85% lean.

Is cooked ground turkey higher in calories per 100 g than raw?

Yes, in every pair on this page: 85% lean patties broiled raw 180 kcal (69.7 g water, 16.9 g protein) against cooked 249 kcal (58.2 g water, 25.9 g protein); 85% lean pan-broiled crumbles raw 180 kcal (69.7 g water, 16.9 g protein) against cooked 258 kcal (56.7 g water, 25.1 g protein); 93% lean patties broiled raw 150 kcal (72.6 g water, 18.7 g protein) against cooked 207 kcal (62.4 g water, 25.9 g protein); 93% lean pan-broiled crumbles raw 150 kcal (72.6 g water, 18.7 g protein) against cooked 213 kcal (61 g water, 27.1 g protein); fat free patties broiled raw 112 kcal (74.7 g water, 23.6 g protein) against cooked 138 kcal (68.4 g water, 29 g protein); fat free pan-broiled crumbles raw 112 kcal (74.7 g water, 23.6 g protein) against cooked 151 kcal (65.8 g water, 31.7 g protein); ground turkey, no lean percent given raw 148 kcal (72.4 g water, 19.7 g protein) against cooked 203 kcal (62.1 g water, 27.4 g protein) per 100 g. The cooked record prints less water in every pair, so the same weight is more meat. Log the weight you measured and pick the matching raw or cooked row.

How many calories are in 250 g or 500 g of ground turkey, or a cup?

For 250 g and 500 g, see the weights table on this page (our arithmetic on the per 100 g figure, all 11 records); for example 93% lean patties broiled (174492) is 517.5 kcal for 250 g and 1035.0 kcal for 500 g, and fat free patties broiled (172849) 345.0 kcal and 690.0 kcal. A cup is not printed on any of these records, so we give no cup figure. The weights are for the meat as the record describes it, not a curry, keema or a fry with oil.

Does IFCT 2017 have turkey rows?

IFCT 2017, the Indian Food Composition Tables from ICMR-NIN, has poultry rows including turkey on our beef, pork and duck guide, not repeated here; this page uses USDA SR Legacy, which has the ground turkey records.

Can I log ground turkey in NYUS?
